Olive - Character design

This is Olive, Vanina's side kick and best friend. He was abandoned at a Marseille cathedral. He was found wraped into the cloth which he is wearing. As a very french boy, he likes to complain and to pout about various subjects. But inside that nut shell hides a kind and funny boy!

Did you know that at the times, Provence printed pattern were painted by hand, and unique for each print. It was common for moms that could not keep their babies to tear one of these and leave one to the chid, in case they could be reunited if better circumstances allowed it.
